Offshore QA Tester: Reliable Releases Without Regressions

Whether on-site or offshore, the QA tester checks that delivered features meet real-world use and remain reliable as the product evolves. At Etixio, quality is part of delivery: our teams prepare tests during development, protect critical user journeys before every production release and also evaluate AI features on real cases.

Understanding the role

Software quality & testing in your project.

Software quality means checking that the product meets expected use and behaves correctly in the situations that matter. Automated tests are one part of it; exploratory testing, business acceptance testing and risk analysis complete the approach. Etixio prepares these checks during development.

QA is not just about testing at the end of the line. The QA tester works with product and engineering to detect defects as early as possible, prevent regressions, improve stability and build confidence in every deployment.

The QA tester’s role

What a QA tester does.

Functional testing

Design and run test plans (web, mobile, API), check critical user journeys (sign-up, payment, back office), validate acceptance criteria and report clear defects, with reproduction steps, screenshots and logs.

Regression prevention

Maintain regression scenarios, run checks before each production release and prioritize tests by risk and criticality.

Test automation

Where relevant, build or extend the automation strategy, with end-to-end UI tests and API tests integrated into continuous integration and deployment.

Product quality and continuous improvement

Take part in agile rituals, contribute to the Definition of Done, recommend improvements to consistency and robustness, and track quality metrics (defects, reopened tickets, incidents, time to resolution).

Multi-environment validation

Test on the main browsers, on mobile and responsive layouts, and on development, staging and production environments according to the agreed process.

Our scope of work

The work we take on.

Test strategy

Target the risks and user journeys where a failure would have the greatest impact.

Verification

Combine exploratory testing, functional checks and appropriate automation.

Diagnosis

Document defects with their reproduction conditions and track their resolution.

Our testing tools

The methods and tools our QA testers use.

Test management

Test plans, test cases, checklists and coverage matrices, with defect tracking in your tools (Jira, Linear, Trello, ClickUp).

UI and API testing

Cypress, Playwright or Selenium for user journeys; Postman and OpenAPI for APIs, with assertions and versioned collections.

Continuous integration

Regression tests run automatically in the integration and deployment pipelines. See our CI/CD with GitLab expertise.

Related skills

Risk-based testing, working knowledge of SQL, log analysis, understanding of client-server architecture and performance basics.

The right time

When should you strengthen QA on your product?

You release often

Reduce production incidents as releases become more frequent.

The development team moves fast

Limit the impact of regressions without slowing delivery.

The product is just starting

Protect critical user journeys from the very first versions.

A redesign is underway

Protect existing features during a major change or modernization.

Automation is still to be built

Set up or speed up regression test automation.

QA and AI

Testing an AI feature and using AI to test.

An AI feature is not tested like a form: the same request can produce different answers. Our QA testers build, with business teams, a set of representative examples, including ambiguous, incomplete or out-of-scope cases, and check accuracy, compliance with access rights, response time and cost. This set is rerun whenever the model or instructions change. See our AI solutions for businesses.

In our own engineering, AI assistants can suggest test cases or datasets. We make sure these tests examine the expected behavior rather than simply mirroring the code. See our AI-assisted engineering.

In the field

From tests to real-world use.

On a sign-up flow, we examine account creation, permissions, validations and errors from external services. Priority scenarios become reproducible tests; UI behavior and unusual cases may call for exploratory testing. A defect is described with the conditions needed to reproduce it and verify its fix.

Our approach

QA within our delivery teams.

Our QA testers bring a lightweight yet structured quality approach. They work with product, the lead developer and DevOps to secure every release without weighing down processes, and treat incident prevention as ongoing work.

Within a delivery team

QA is part of our dedicated teams, alongside the developers and the tech lead, in Madagascar or Mauritius.

Automation

Setting up or industrializing automated regression testing on an existing product.

Alongside your team

A QA tester embedded in your tools and rituals for functional testing and improving quality processes.

Quality audit

Assessment of quality and of the production release process, with a prioritized action plan.

The choices that matter

The choices to review before building.

The number of tests or the coverage rate is not enough to measure quality. We choose checks based on risk and how often things change. Test data, environment stability and the relevance of assertions determine whether the pipeline actually catches the regressions that matter.

From work to deliverables

Work your team can take over.

The scope of the engagement specifies the user journeys to check, the tests to build or rework and the acceptance criteria. We prepare what is needed to understand the results, verify them and continue the work.

Frequently asked questions

QA tester: your questions.

What is the role of a QA tester in a digital project?

The QA tester is responsible for product quality before and after go-live. They validate features, anticipate risks, limit regressions and secure every release.

Why do bugs still reach production?

Most often because of a lack of structured testing, regression testing or risk-based prioritization. A QA tester detects defects earlier and protects critical user journeys before every production release.

Are automated tests enough to guarantee quality?

No. Automation is an important lever but does not cover every real-world use. A QA tester combines manual testing, automated testing and a risk-based approach.

How does QA improve delivery?

QA clarifies acceptance criteria, structures testing and streamlines validation before each production release. The result is fewer back-and-forths and fewer incidents.

What testing tools do you use?

Cypress, Playwright or Selenium for UI testing, Postman and OpenAPI for APIs, and your tracking tools (Jira, Linear…). Regression tests are integrated into the continuous integration pipeline.

Can an offshore QA tester work with our team?

Yes. With a 1- to 3-hour time difference between Paris and Madagascar or Mauritius, the QA tester takes part in your rituals, tests on your environments and reports defects in French in your tools.

How do you test an AI feature?

With a set of representative examples, including ambiguous and out-of-scope cases, and criteria for accuracy, response time and cost. This set is rerun whenever the model or instructions change, in addition to the application’s standard tests.
