Software Development in Madagascar: Our French-Speaking Engineering Teams

In Madagascar, Etixio brings together teams of French-speaking engineers who design, develop and maintain software and AI solutions for our clients: business applications, SaaS products, web and mobile apps, AI agents. Every team is led by a tech lead and managed from France, one to two hours ahead of Paris. This page covers what we build there, how we work and the setup that keeps your releases on track.

Our teams in Madagascar

Teams that deliver your product, not staff placement.

At Etixio, Madagascar is one of our two delivery locations, alongside our teams in Mauritius. What we sell there is delivery: a team built around your product designs, tests and evolves your software, and is accountable for what it ships. Scoping, trade-offs and relationship management stay in France, with named contacts from day one.

The teams work in French with your business stakeholders and technical teams. Specifications, tickets and documentation are written in your language, and the nuances of a business rule are discussed without translation.

Business software and SaaS products

Management applications, SaaS platforms, internal tools: from architecture to regular production releases, as a dedicated team or a fixed-price project.

Web and mobile applications

Web interfaces, iOS and Android apps, APIs and integrations with your information system. See mobile app development.

AI agents and AI features

AI agents connected to your tools, document search and AI features built into your products, designed and evaluated by our AI team in Madagascar.

AI POC takeover and maintenance

An AI prototype taken all the way to production, an existing application taken over, fixed, updated and documented. See AI POC to production.

Roles and technologies

The skills we bring together for your product.

Each team is built around the work to be done, and its composition changes as the project moves through its phases. It brings together back-end, front-end, full-stack and mobile developers, QA and DevOps engineers, engineers specialized in AI model integration, Product Owners and, always, a tech lead.

How we work

Managed from France, a tech lead, your tools and your rituals.

Management in France

A contact in France handles the relationship, priorities and scope decisions. You know who to go to with a priority, a technical question or an issue.

A tech lead accountable for quality

The tech lead owns the architecture, code reviews and release criteria, supervises the team day to day and remains your point of contact on technical choices.

Rituals during your office hours

Stand-ups, workshops, demos and sprint reviews happen during your working day, which the team’s day overlaps almost entirely.

Shared tools

The team works in your code repositories, tracking tool and environments, or within a framework we propose. Planned work and progress stay visible.

Documentation kept up to date

Architecture decisions, specifications and runbooks are written down and handed over as the work progresses, so product knowledge stays accessible to your organization.

Quality and security

Systematic code reviews, automated tests, acceptance criteria before every production release, role-based access and GDPR-compliant contractual safeguards for data. See our commitments.

Delivery continuity

A setup designed to keep your releases moving.

Ensuring delivery continuity is part of what we do. Our organization is designed so that work keeps moving whatever happens to a person, a workstation or a site: the project depends on no single individual, machine or location.

Cloud-based tools and environments

Code, development and test environments, tickets and documentation are hosted in the cloud and reachable from any authorized workstation.

Redundant workstations and connections

Our teams have redundant internet connections, backup workstations and backup power.

Remote work when needed

Engineers can keep working remotely, with the same access and the same security rules.

Handover between Madagascar and Mauritius

Our teams in both countries share the same practices and can take over from one another on a given topic.

Shared knowledge

Documentation, cross code reviews and written decisions ensure no task or part of the product rests with a single person.

Daily follow-up

Project management and the tech lead track progress every day and adjust the setup as soon as something calls for it.

Our case studies

Products built with our teams in Madagascar.

Our teams in Madagascar have built, among others, a PHP / Symfony e-learning platform for a professional training provider, delivered two workstreams for a bank operating in Madagascar and, together with our teams in Mauritius, developed a real estate data platform and a secure document sharing platform.

Madagascar at a glance

A French-speaking island, in step with European hours.

Location and time zone. Madagascar is an island in the Indian Ocean, off the southeast coast of Africa; its capital is Antananarivo. The country is on UTC+3 year-round: two hours ahead of Paris in winter and one hour in summer. Direct flights connect Paris and Antananarivo for a kickoff or an on-site workshop.

Languages. Malagasy and French are the two official languages. French is the language of higher education and much of professional life, and Madagascar is a member of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie. Technical documentation is read in English, as everywhere in software.

Talent and education. Public universities, the École nationale d’informatique in Fianarantsoa and private schools train engineers in software engineering, networks, data and artificial intelligence. We select candidates through hands-on technical exercises and on their ability to explain their choices, and supervision by a tech lead then supports their growth.

Cultural proximity. French business norms, legal and administrative vocabulary and company structures are widely familiar, which makes working with French-speaking teams straightforward. To go further, our comparison Madagascar or Mauritius helps you choose between our two delivery countries.

How do you ensure delivery continuity?

Through organization. Cloud-based tools and environments, redundant connections and workstations, backup power, the option to work remotely, handover between our teams in Madagascar and Mauritius, shared documentation and daily follow-up by project management and the tech lead.
